Every unit at The York is a fully self-contained studio — no shared bedrooms, no negotiating over the kitchen. Between 24 and 33m², each one gives you a private kitchen, an en-suite bathroom, and a dedicated study zone in a single, well-considered space.

They arrive furnished and finished: bed, desk, fridge, couch and storage all in place. Many open onto a balcony with mountain or city views, so you move in, plug in, and get on with the year.

Metropole The York is designed for students and young professionals aged between 22 and 30.

Click the Apply Now button at the top of the page to start your online application. The process takes around 5 minutes — you'll need your student ID, proof of registration, and a copy of your ID document. Our team will be in touch within 1–2 business days.

Every studio is fully furnished and includes high-speed Wi-Fi and regular cleaning of common areas. Please note that rental amounts exclude municipal charges — water, electricity, refuse, and sanitation are billed separately, monthly in arrears, based on actual consumption.

A double deposit is required upon signing your lease. This deposit is held in an interest-bearing account for the duration of your stay.

Unfortunately, sharing is not permitted. The York's units are single-occupancy studios — one person per studio.

There are no on-site parking bays at The York. Secure parking is available in nearby city garages, and most residents find the CBD location means they can walk or use MyCiTi rather than drive. Please enquire when applying and our team will talk you through the closest options.

On-site laundry facilities are available for all residents, alongside regular cleaning of the common areas — no need to leave the building.

The York is 250m from UCT's Hiddingh Campus and a short walk from CPUT's District Six campus. UCT's main campus is easily reachable on the Jammie shuttle and MyCiTi routes, and the CBD location also puts you close to Red & Yellow, VEGA and FEDISA.

Security is a top priority at Metropole. The York has secure access control, 24-hour CCTV and on-site security, plus a concierge at reception — giving residents complete peace of mind at all hours.
